Stirling talent

Lindsey Stirling

Quite the performer.  I stumbled upon Lindsey on another quilter's blog and I immediately fell in love with her combination of classical violin, funky moves and dramatic facial expressions.  It takes some serious talent to rock the violin and brake it down.  Bravo Stirling!

Where in the world is Edie Brickell?

Every few years Edie Brickell will pass through my mind and I'll have to give her 1988 album Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars a good few days on the stereo.  It brings me straight back to the talent show in middle school where two 8th grade girls sang Circle on a shared microphone sitting on stools.  It was a truly beautiful unplugged moment when adolescence began to fade.

So as I sang my heart out to Circle in the car on my way home from work last week, I began to wonder...  where in the world is Edie these days?

She is still married to Paul Simon with three children (bravo).  She has also teamed up with Steve Martin (apparently quite the renaissance man these days), and made a new bluegrass country album Love Has Come for You.  Martin picks the banjo and Brickell does the vocals (naturally).  They make quite the sound together.  You can see them here playing for The View a few months back.  And guess what?  They're on tour!  I love her dress + boots look, and her hair hasn't changed a bit.  Love it.
